Experts in Japanese knotweed.
This week’s blog will be short and to the point. It’s on the subject of Japanese knotweed signs. Why do I still see incorrect spelling of knotweed on reports, signs, etc.
A typical sign I saw recently stated:
HAZARDOUS
WASTE
JAPANESE KNOT WEED
KEEP OUT
Now apart from the obvious error knotweed being one word and not two. Japanese knotweed is not hazardous. It is classed as ‘controlled’ waste. It is not hazardous. In fact it is edible.
I’ve also seen the following sign being used on site (probably my favourite):
KNOTT WEED
ACCESS TO PERMITTED PARSONS ONLY
Or even:
JAPANESE NOT WEED
CONTACT xxxxxxx Ltd FOR ACCESS
If people concerned had read the Code of Practice for Managing Japanese knotweed on Development sites, they would have found a template of a suitable sign to erect.
