An avid gardener, the client declined the urge to treat the area themselves and enlisted a local gardener to remediate the knotweed at site over several years. Earlier in the year the client had attempted to sell the property but had trouble proceeding with several buyers as she did not have an insurance backed guarantee programme in place with a PCA registered company.
Having discussed such issues with the client we agreed to visit the property and complete a specialist Japanese knotweed survey allowing us to provide quotation for both excavation and herbicide treatment programmes both of which include an insurance backed guarantee.
The client opted for a herbicide treatment programme of 10 years in duration with insurance backed guarantee. This allowed us to visit the property twice per year to apply herbicide via spraying and stem injection and also visit the property during the winter months to complete a brush cut when applicable. The knotweed itself was located within 12 metres of a small stream which meant that we applied for an AqHerb license (an Environment Agency license to apply herbicide on or near water) in order to safely treat the area without causing contamination. We have now been treating the site for over a year and it is well on the way to having no visible growth.
Japanese Knotweed Ltd are continually reviewing and refining our methods of works to ensure we provide the most appropriate and cost effective solutions to our clients.
