Conveyance and Knotweed Property Risk

Posted - May 3rd, 2012

Japanese Knotweed Ltd welcomed the arrival of the RICS Information paper on knotweed (RICS IP 27/2012), hoping that it would provide a more reasoned approach by lenders assessing knotweed residential property risk. We provide the Knotweed Management Plans and Third Party Bonded Guarantees (provided after having undertaken a thorough property risk survey), required by lenders to demonstrate acceptable management and treatment of knotweed problems. So enabling property lending on knotweed issues is nothing new us, but we believe to have seen very early indicators that the release of the RICS knotweed information paper (in March 2012) may already be providing a more realistic approach to lending. Non-Native Invasive Species – A Subjective Point of View

Posted - May 1st, 2012

There has often been no broad incentive to take action on the introduction of a non-native species that is potentially invasive. As in reality we will wait until the non-native species has shown its self to be invasive and caused a recognised significant problem, before we throw money at it to try and resolve the issue (by which time ecological damage may have already been caused). Emerging Japanese Knotweed Growth

Posted - April 9th, 2012

The rain and snow to parts of the UK last week and over the Easter weekend, has been a reminder of just how mild, dry and occasionally very warm the weather was in March.

What is Japanese Knotweed ?

What is Japanese Knotweed? Often incorrectly referred to as Japanese Nutweed or Japanese Knotwood; JAPANESE KNOTWEED (Fallopia japonica) is an invasive non-native species that is highly regenerative and can cause both ecological and structural damage. For more information on the plant and the issues it causes please click here.

To ignore Japanese knotweed can prove costly in the long run and incorrect treatment or allowing it to spread beyond site boundaries - risks putting you in breach of the law. We can draw up and administrate Japanese Knotweed Management Plans, as recommended in the EA Knotweed Code of Practice 2006, and conduct site surveys and verification visits. We can also tailor the Knotweed Management Plan format to residential properties, particularly to satisfy criteria increasingly demanded by mortgage providers.

Japanese Knotweed Ltd can provide Knotweed Toolbox Talks and are committed to educating our clients, the media and the public about knotweed and invasive weed issues through written articles and presentations.

We are a member of the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI). Our commitment to Health and Safety compliance is reflected by our membership of the CHAS scheme. Our operations are backed by warranty, Insurance-backed guarantee and our Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurances.
