Japanese Knotweed Ltd (JKL) is a private limited company, founded in 2010. Currently employing over 50 staff including field operating surveyors, managed via three offices situated in London, Southampton, and Manchester. We work throughout England, Wales and Scotland for construction companies, developers, facilities management, housing associations, local authorities, property maintenance and private property owners.

Technical ability and delivery.

We employ colleagues across the UK to provide an efficient and responsive service that enables us to deliver over 150 excavations and 12,000 herbicide visits per year for more than 6,000 customers. Our services cater for project values in the range of £500 up to £1.5M.

Japanese Knotweed Ltd's Services

As well as Japanese knotweed, we control all other non-native invasive weeds such as Giant hogweed and Himalayan balsam, and native common weeds such as Horsetail. Our work programmes include excavation for immediate removal, or herbicide treatments for longer-term control - a range of cost-effective and efficient eradication methods to meet all requirements. We are committed to providing on-site sustainable options wherever available; removal to landfill should always be considered a last resort. We do not supply ‘one package fits all’ remedies, instead, we liaise closely with our clients to tailor a site-specific package, often utilising several treatment techniques on a single site.

Insurance Backed Guarantees

JKL is a long-standing member of the Property Care Association’s (PCA) Invasive Weed Control Group (IWCG). Our works fall in line with the PCA’s knotweed code of practice allowing all knotweed remediation work carried out by the company to be backed by a guarantee with the option of an insurance backed guarantee if required.

We hold a range of safety SSIP and industry-related accreditations which are supported by our commitment to provide the highest level of employee training, expertise, and customer service standards in the industry. Health & Safety has always been a crucial part of our business, both for our staff and how we operate for our clients. As a business, we know our number one asset is our staff and therefore pride ourselves in aiming to have the most appropriately trained employees in the industry.

Qualifications & Training

Our specialist presentations and training programmes are not only an essential part of our staff’s continuous improvement programme but can also be provided externally for companies requiring either onsite training, online webinars, or recorded presentations as part of their CPD.

In relation to our excavation works we employ skilled and qualified staff including CSCS (100%), CPCS and SSST, with associated training such as asbestos awareness etc. For herbicide works we employ a BASIS advisor, and our staff possess the statutory NPTC PA1/PA6 tickets, plus we are affiliated to the Amenity Standard and members of the Amenity Forum.

Our operations are carried out in accordance with The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, The Environmental Protection Act 1990, EPA (Duty of Care) Regulations 1991 and all other relevant legislation, as well as the PCA, INNSA and E.A. Code of Practice guidelines.
