Japanese Knotweed Ltd specialise in the survey, control and removal of Japanese knotweed. Knotweed is a non-native invasive plant species which if left to grow untreated can spread with the potential to cause damage to surfaces, walls and buildings. Japanese knotweed on or near a property can result in a loss of property value. It may also cause a nuisance to neighbours simply by its presence or from encroachment into neighbouring properties.

If a knotweed affected property is being sold the buyers lender is quite likely to require a specialist knotweed survey and a Knotweed Management Plan (KMP) with a treatment programme or instant removal via excavation and guarantee. If a commercial site is being developed the client will need a survey and a KMP, which quite often includes for the excavation of knotweed.

We provide these surveys, chemical (herbicide) treatment programmes, immediate excavation options and guarantees. We operate throughout the UK. Our clients include property developers, construction companies, large corporate organisations, local authorities, housing associations and private home owners.

Marketing and Business Development Team

The team is responsible for outwardly representing our company and our visibility and standing in the market place, attracting new leads and building relationships with existing customers. Marketing activities are predominately digital and include; the Website, Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). The team delivers on a business development strategy to expand its customer base, exploring new customer and partnership opportunities.

Role Overview:

Working as part of an office-based Marketing and Business Development Team you will possess the sales experience and skills to be responsible for increasing the number of commercial enquiries received into the business. You will:

  • Prospect and identify new sales leads.
  • Contact leads to provide awareness and pitch interest in our services (telesales).
  • Maintain and develop relationships with existing customers to explore new opportunities.
Key Details

This position comes with a competitive salary, subject to experience. This is a full-time role and the working days will be Monday through to Friday, with 8 working hours per day, plus half hour for lunch. Typically, the working is 08:30 to 17:00 but there is some flexibility.

Holidays: We offer 23 days holiday entitlement (pro rata for part time employees), to be taken follows:

  • 12 days - Winter period during November to April
  • 11 days - Summer period during May to October
  • 8 days - Bank holidays
The Role
  • Three years work experience in customer service and administration

Skills and qualifications required
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration - desirable.
  • Five or more years’ work experience in sales.
  • Experience in telesales.
  • Experience in prospecting commercial customers (businesses).
  • Strong sales and customer service back ground, with a passion for delivering a great service.
  • An excellent telephone manner is essential.
  • You must be articulate and excellent with written and verbal communication.
  • GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent).

Working as part of an office-based Sales and Admin Team you will be advising clients by email and telephone about our service, creating reports and quotes for treatment options, and selling residential and commercial herbicide and guarantee management plans.

Key Details

This position comes with a competitive salary of £22,000 per annum. It is a full-time role and the working days are Monday to Friday with working hours that change with the seasons, as below:

Summer - May to October, 08:00 to 17:00 hours
Winter - November to April, 08:30 to 16:30 hours

Holidays

We offer 23 days holiday to be taken as follows:

12 days - Winter period (November to April)

Working as part of the office based Herbicide Sales and Admin Team your primary role will be; arranging and scheduling site surveys for the surveying staff, administering a surveying diary and online staff calendars, and dealing with the day-to-day of the surveyors with support from your line manager. The role involves communication with clients by email and telephone to arrange surveys. You will also be trained to read surveys and create survey reports (Knotweed Management Plans) to be able to support the sales team when required in there production.

Requirements of the Role
  • Communicating by telephone and email with customers to arrange dates/times for; Surveys, Combined Survey/Treatment Visits and Guarantee Visits
  • Co-ordinating and scheduling daily routes and visits for the surveyors using My-maps and Google maps
  • Recording visits and schedules on an Microsoft Excel Surveyors Diary and on Online Calendars
  • Supporting the surveyors during the day to get their job done and utilise the support of senior team leaders and managers to answer any technical issues that arise.
  • Provide general sales team support in:
    • Answering phone calls
    • Receiving and filing survey returns
    • Creating survey drawings from site survey findings
    • Compiling Knotweed Management Plan documents including; survey drawings, photos, findings and works programme
    • General administration

Administrator - Contracts Team

The Contracts Team is responsible for managing our client contracts throughout their life cycle. This includes ensuring a contract is set up correctly from the outset, to managing any issues that occur during the lifetime of the contract, to finally helping our clients to renew their contracts. Our Contracts Team is client facing, and work closely with the other teams within the company.

We are currently looking to fill two full time Administrator roles on a 6-month fixed-term basis, with the possibility to become permanent after this time.

Role Overview

Working as part of an office-based team, the ideal candidates will posses experience in a customer facing role and will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, good attention to detail, and be computer literate. You will:

  • Be responsible for processing customer orders, including taking payments
  • Create customer and internal documentation for new and existing contracts, including creating technical site plans in Vectorworks (training can be given if necessary)
  • Receive and answer customer queries by phone and email

We are currently looking for an Area Technician to cover North West and West London, and the Midlands. There will be a requirement for you to travel further afield from time to time to undertake the work and you will be expected to stay away on some occasions.                                                     

Requirements of the Role
  • Spraying knotweed at residential and commercial properties
  • The application of herbicide using a knapsack sprayer and an injection gun
  • Taking pictures and recording the work carried out at each property
  • Occasional undergrowth clearance work and dead stem cutting

Skills and Qualifications Required
  • CSCS – Skilled labourer /site worker H & S Certificate
  • PA1, PA2 & PA6 - Spraying certificate
  • Ability to take site pictures, completing site record forms and upload to cloud based servers
  • A full clean driving licence is required
  • Good IT skills and ability to use a tablet

General Information
  • Your base of work will be your home address or any other base of work that the company may choose that is located within 25 miles of your home address
  • The visits will be pre-arranged by the office and you will need to adhere to the programme of visits, this will mean travelling to and from your base of work to multiple sites in one day
  • You will travel a considerable mileage to many locations and occasionally to other parts of the UK outside of your region during the course of your work. From time to time you will be asked to stay away over night. The accommodation is sourced and paid for by the company. You will receive a stay away allowance of £30
  • You will be provided with a works van and the fuel, a mobile phone and a tablet to enable you to communicate remotely onsite and deliver the information back quickly, but you will need internet access to enable you to communicate from home as required
  • This is predominantly a lone worker role
  • You will be provided with all the tools and equipment and materials
  • Training as and where necessary by in-house staff will be arranged

This is a seasonal position and will be from April – November each year.

Hours of work

The hours worked per day will vary to meet the demands of the job. The nature of the business will mean there will be some long working days. Starting time and finishing times each day will vary depending on where the sites are and the time it takes for you to travel to the first site and home from the last site. Travelling time each way could be as little as 15 minutes or in some cases 2 hours or more. Your aim is to be on the first site by 8:00am and leave the last site at about 4:00pm and take a lunch break of half an hour. Your departure time from home will need to be planned to ensure you arrive on site to meet the client by the time required.

Holiday

The holiday entitlement is 23 days plus bank holidays (pro rata for part time or seasonal staff).
