When Japanese knotweed was spotted on a residential development in Norwich, Norfolk, Japanese Knotweed Ltd was called in to remove the problem. The client required the site to be ready for development without the risk (presence of) Japanese knotweed, which was located to the front corner of the property.
We completed a survey and devised a Knotweed Management Plan, which included the full excavation of all knotweed contaminated ground and removal to landfill (Dig and Dump method). Removal was achieved whilst the volume of arising waste was minimised through accurate identification of knotweed rhizome in the ground and efficient excavation techniques. Upon excavation it became evident that knotweed contaminated soils also existed beyond the boundary of the site. Vertical root barrier was installed at the boundary to separate the remaining knotweed contaminated ground from clean soils within the site.
On completion of works all machine and personnel were decontaminated and the site was left in clean and safe state. The client was very happy that the problem had been resolved quickly and in an efficient manner.
