Japanese Knotweed Ltd was recently contacted by a communications company regarding Japanese knotweed situated in a small fenced compound in Barry, South Glamorgan, Wales. We came up with a perfect solution to remove the knotweed utilising the skills and knowledge of our experienced operations team based in Wales.
The client wanted to remove the old telephone mast and replace it with a new one, however, the small compound where the mast was located was full of, and surrounded by Japanese knotweed. The challenges were to remove the knotweed from inside the small compound with minimum disruption and to ensure that it did not spread back in from outside the fence.
We carefully excavated around the foundation of the mast, and then sealed it with a sleeve of root barrier membrane. The knotweed covering the rest of the compound was also excavated, with root barrier installed to cover the excavated area, upturned along the fence to prevent future invasion from outside. The excavated knotweed spoil was removed to a licensed landfill site.
Our careful and professional approach has given our client a clean compound, along with the peace of mind that any rhizome spread from the offsite knotweed will be contained at the boundary. This service was guaranteed for 12 years too!
