Japanese Knotweed Eradication, West Sussex

Service pipes blocked by Japanese knotweed

Japanese Knotweed Ltd was approached by Barratt Homes about a site in Crawley, West Sussex to carry out a quote for Japanese Knotweed eradication.

When Japanese Knotweed Ltd surveyed the site they discovered Japanese Knotweed had damaged the drainage and service pipes. The team at Japanese Knotweed Ltd managed to extract the knotweed roots and rhizomes out of the drain and found it to be several metres long.

In this case our specialist stated that during most of the year and certainly during the growing season the knotweed will grow at a considerable rate in the warm and moist environment that the clear passageway of a drainpipe provides and the roots will easily reach 7 metre in length. In time the root growth will block the drain and cause considerable damage.

A PCA member such as Japanese Knotweed Ltd can remove the problem by excavating the contaminated soil and dispose it at a licensed landfill ensuring that the plant doesn’t grow again at the site.
