Network Rail Loses Japanese Knotweed Case

On the 3rd July 2018 the Court of Appeal handed down its judgment in the case of Waistell & Williams v Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd, and in doing so set a landmark legal precedent and 'case law' for the control of Japanese knotweed.

BBC News - Knotweed cannot be eradicated

This week, there was an article published by BBC News (and subsequently more media outlets) with the headline ‘knotweed cannot be eradicated’, in reference to the release of the University of Swansea’s Japanese knotweed treatment field trial results.
The headline was unfortunately misleading and not completely in context to the basis of the trials and the results gained. Another case of the media slightly sensationalising a story.
Japanese Knotweed Code of Practice

When the Environment Agency withdrew its ‘Knotweed Code of Practice’ in 2016 the industry took on the mantle of providing best practice guidance on managing knotweed. The two industry trade bodies (PCA & INNSA) produced their own codes that provide the highest shared standards of best practice.
